The Council consists of students with different paces of learning and needs. Council meetings are conducted on a monthly basis thus a constant feedback loop mechanism on the action taken in the previous meeting and the progress the same has made. All aspects of a student’s life are addressed in the meeting. The meeting is headed by the Director, Dean and Associate Deans of Academics, Students, Administration thus ensuring absolute transparency which is an essential aspect of overall growth and development of an institution and enhancing student’s life. 1276 suggestions were put forth by students in the students council meetings in various colleges across the university. Students' suggestions and feedback on curriculum enhancement, schedule of classes, examination schedule, instrument availability, library facilities, maintenance and usage of equipment, accommodation, transport, food are taken into consideration and modifications are done. 89.63 % of the suggestions were considered and relevant modifications were done. Remaining 10.37 % was irrelevant and hence the solution was not resolved. The student council focuses on academic aspects that are present, for example when it comes to scheduling of classes in the various departments that a student is involved in a particular year of the study and even in terms of the academic calendar for the year is passed by the council and appropriate changes are made as and when necessary based on varied difficulties faced by the students regarding the same. For instance, when students require extra revision classes and tests, they put forward in student council meetings and modifications in schedule are done. Student amenities like accommodation, transport, sports facilities, food are taken into account, the services provided by the various vendors involved are assessed and any changes to the same are allocated with immediate effect. The suggestions which were irrelevant was change in college timings, holidays on all Saturdays, need to wear casuals on Fridays etc. All actions that are taken as part of the council are student oriented and centred around student welfare. This ensures an improved growth pattern for the institution as well as for the students involved. This has also helped the institution to understand the changing pace of the life of students with various habitat and lifestyle changes. The council worked relentlessly for the development of the student body and the institution and did not stop even during the testing times of the pandemic. The council focuses on a holistic development of the students during their time in the university and attends to all the difficulties faced by them during their term. The student council of our university gives the opportunity to foster leadership skills, communication , teamwork and public speaking to the students, thus creating a good leader for the country.

Key Indicator: 5.4: Alumni Engagement
5.4.1: The Alumni Association/Chapters (registered and functional) has contributed significantly to the development of the Institution through financial and other support services during the last five years
SIMATS ensures that former students are always connected through the Alumni Association. The alumni members meet on a regular basis and always stay connected to each other as well as with the institution. Our Alumni are placed all over the world holding high positions in various institutions, companies, organisations etc and as such they play a vital role in curriculum and skill development at SIMATS by giving regular feedback on the necessities of knowledge and skills of the current world in their respective domains.
SIMATS has facilitated each of its constituent colleges to have their individual alumni associations in order to enable the alumni to be better connected in their own domains. Thus the students of Dentistry, Medicine, Engineering, Law, Management, Physiotherapy and Nursing have their own alumni associations. Each of the Alumni associations have individual alumni coordinators who help to keep the association members connected at all levels.
The alumni are always updated with the events happening in the institution through the newsletters describing the various activities at saveetha like that shared with them on a regular basis. Besides this each of the alumni associations have their own facebook pages to enable constant contact and interaction between the members
Saveetha Old Students Association (SOSA)
Saveetha Medical College Alumni Association
Saveetha School of Engineering Alumni Association
Saveetha College of Nursing Alumni Association
The alumni association also serves as a medium for the alumni to give back to the university. The alumni of the various associations have been very generously contributed financially for setting up or renovating infrastructure like libraries, gardens etc. They have also contributed by donating books, journals and equipment to their respective colleges. However the most important contribution of the alumni is the enrichment they bring to the current students by conducting seminars, workshops and other advisory and motivational talks on their real world experiences. The alumni also benefit the present students by providing them with job placements either directly or indirectly by enabling campus selections in the institution.
The alumni contributes greatly in curriculum enrichment of the curriculum. The various additional courses that have formed an integral part of the present syllabus are a result of their representation in the Board of Studies of the institution which frames the curriculum. The alumni also facilitate MOUs with other institutions and industry to enable research, student exchange internships and industry entrepreneurship experience to the present students.
The Saveetha Old students association(SOSA) of the dental alumni meet every year in the months of August and October. The meetings are filled with fun, interaction with current students in terms of talks, CDE programs etc and interaction with faculty on the current requirements of curriculum improvement. Former faculty are also invited and felicitated by the alumni as a mark of gratitude towards their teachers during these meetings. Similar meetings of other alumni associations of SIMATS happen yearly filled with educational and fun activities. The activities of alumni associations can be seen in our website- Saveetha Alumni
