INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CELL (ISC)
Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences has a dedicated cell for International students to provide them academic and personal support. The cell creates a bridge between the students and the administration /management. The Cell provides required guidelines related to the university to the students. SIMATS possess strong international connectivity which is clearly evident from the various international MOUs signed with top universities for exchange programmes including faculty and student exchange. We have a dedicated active international student cell (ISC) explicitly designed to monitor and actively participate in integrating students from several parts of the globe into one student community. SIMATS ISC was initiated in 2012 and has adopted an integrated three-pronged strategy to extend the valuable benefits of the university's programs to international students through academic interactions with students and faculty. The students are exposed to different cultural values, belief systems and behaviours to create oneness and promote contemplation beyond academics. Career support advice and exchange support are the important wings of SIMATS ISC. It also Promotes multi-ethnic culture among the students and encourages them to participate in numerous local cultural events. ISC also mediates student exchange by arranging student exchange between several international universities, aids moral support and academic guidance for Indian students to facilitate their academic voyage. Until now, SIMATS has signed 102 International and 120 Industrial MOUs. We extend our international partnership with various institutes in South Korea, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, United states of America and United kingdom. Around 100 International webinar series, Organising Credit Courses inviting the International Faculties and Student exchange programmes are organized fostering knowledge exchange and increasing international student acquisition. Around 130 Students participated in the exchange program for clinical training in Dundee University, UCLA, University of Hongkong ,Kyungpook National University, Griffith University, UNC Chapel Hill and ISC encouraged students to participate in the Summer School Program abroad in Queen Mary University London, Nottingham Trent University, Swinburne University . The ISC is actively involved in appointing adjunct faculties from foreign countries. We have published more than 500 papers with International research Collaborations. Career support advice and exchange support are the important wings of SIMATS ISC. It also Promotes multi-ethnic culture among the students and encourages them to participate in numerous local cultural events. ISC also conducted international workshops, international conferences and facilitated the international scholars' visits to SIMATS.The crucial functions of SIMATS ISC include international student admissions campaigns and enrolment into various academic programmes.
Other important functions of ISC are related to guidance to enrol with Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO), hostel Accommodation, redressal of Student Grievances, address any issues related to Official documentation process and guides the Students on visa application, referrals to contacts in abroad, support related to Confirmation of the admission in partner institutions, scholarship arrangements, and mediate short term exchange program. ISC also mediates student exchange by arranging student exchange between several international universities, aids moral support and academic guidance for Indian students to facilitate their academic voyage. Students are enlightened with international fellowships, research grants, travel grants and processes assisting their overseas studies and research. Information on abroad opportunities are displayed in notice boards and other strategic locations in every department and messages are shared in social media.
ISC, headed by the Dean, international affairs regularly visits institutions overseas to promote academic and research collaborations. SIMATS has faculties designated as international student support advisors who are actively involved in counselling and rendering support to students who are ambitious of studying abroad. The ISC maintains and provides the necessary data, solicited by government agencies as and when it is needed.
