Library Facilities at SIMATS
Our library is fully automated using two library management softwares to provide intranet and internet access to library resources spanning across 5 libraries in 2 campuses. The automation process was started in 2015 and by the end of 2017 our libraries were fully automated. Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences has installed seven major libraries viz, Engineering Library, Medical Library, Health Sciences Library, Dental Library and SAIL Central Library, Law and Management libraries across the colleges affiliated to it. These libraries house a large collection of books totaling 81229 books till date out of which 21323 books were acquired during the period 2015-21.

Integrated Library Management System (ILMS)
Autolib Software System
Autolib Software System (Version 5.0), an integrated library automation and management software. The automation system is fully integrated with the Multi-user LAN module and WEB OPAC module and is accessible throughout our campus. The SQL module enables access to our library resources through campus intranet. Autolib is a versatile tool and is used to record and report daily library activities.
Librarika ILS
Librarika is an integrated Library Management System with built-in OPAC access to all the libraries registered in it. The system allows us to share our resources and catalogs to be shared not only within our colleges but also across other institutions. Since Librarika has an online browser based interface, it is used to manage data across our libraries located in different locations without having the need of installing or providing additional hardware resources.
Network and Access
The library resources can be searched and accessed through the OPAC LAN and WEB module added to Autolib and Librarika management systems all over our campus intranet. We have a total of 2000 plus computer systems to enable the students to access online contents and e-resources.
Our campuses are connected with the high speed internet through Vodapone and Pulse India private limited with 1.5 Gb/s bandwidth speed. The entire campus is wifi enabled with wireless internet through 300+ access points with unlimited usage access.
We are a part of NDLI (National Digital Library of India) through which our students access metadata and full text resources from several national and international digital libraries.
Our institution is also connected to NKN (National Knowledge Network) developed by the government of India through which we are connected to universities, research institutions, libraries, laboratories, healthcare and agricultural institutions across the country through a multi-gigabit capable network.
Our vast remote access subscription includes 4590 Journals through PROQUEST, 192 IEEE journals subscribed through EBSCO International Inc.,125 Journals through BMJ, 38 Civil Engineering Journals in The American Society of Civil Engineering and 25 Mechanical Engineering Journals in The American Society of Mechanical Engineering.
Back Volume of Project Reports and Doctoral Thesis
Our library holds back volumes of UG and PG final year student project reports for future reference. The final thesis copy of all the Doctoral Degrees awarded from 2015 are available in Shodhganga Indian thesis repository and also as bound copies for the use of current scholars and students. New doctoral thesis submitted to the library is displayed for a period of 10 days ahead of final defence.
