The university was accorded with Grade A accreditation status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India on November 2015. While dynamically addressing the growing needs of the society, Saveetha is continually engaged in creating innovative, interdisciplinary and insightful programmes on critical domains in the areas of health sciences, engineering and technology, management, and law. For instance, with a super-specialty hospital focusing almost all critical areas with daily patients turnover of 1000, the Medical College is offering about 24 super-specialty programmes at Masters Level. The Dental programme offers nine Masters programmes and in addition some specialized programmes on aesthetic dentistry, implantology, oral oncology, and biomaterials. Remarkably, every student pursing BDS at our Dental College has to undergo 2000 procedures before they graduate which is ten times higher than the ranking Dental Colleges in the country. The Engineering School offers highly specialized Postgraduate programmes on several topical domains related to all core engineering disciplines. A wide variety of masters and doctoral programmes offered from different disciplines enabled Saveetha to highly pursue trans-disciplinary and borderless research programmes leading to productive research outcomes.

Saveetha University has several Centres of Excellence (COEs), functioning from different Schools, pursuing interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research yielding cutting edge research outcomes. COEs on niche areas like renewable energy, wireless communication, embedded system, CAD design, advanced manufacturing, and network security related to engineering, those at Dental School including Tessalation Centre, Micro-endodontics Centre, Implantology Centre, Dental Research Cell/BRULAC, and Oral Cancer Research Centre, and Saveetha Young Medical Researchers Group (SYMRG), Saveetha Medical Research Centre in Medical School all demonstrate Saveetha's research capabilities and potentials. Trans-disciplinary research works between medical and engineering on areas like urology, ortho and muscular contractions are some examples of Saveetha's borderless research initiatives.

Saveetha is second to none in India in imbibing the approach of student centered learning and innovative pedagogies to enable the students to be job ready with the desirable demand driven skills. The curriculum and regulation is therefore designed to promote experiential and other innovative learning approaches including Multiple Integrated Learning Algorithm (MILA), context based learning, web forum, inter-professional learning, vertical and horizontal integration, Case Base Learning (CABLe), and E-learning management systems including Moodle and Google class room, pear deck application, and self-learning modules. These approaches are widely practiced across all constituent colleges. Inter professional learning among the related courses like medicine, nursing and physiotherapy promotes multi-professional skills and creates awareness on and appreciation of others domain among the graduates.

As a result, the University has progressively improved its academic performance since its inception. For instance, in the academic year 2016 - 2017, it has demonstrated its excellence with a lot of accomplishments including several hundreds of research articles published in peer reviewed indexed journals, appended by Scopus and Web of Science, several patents filed, and hundreds of books published by reputable publishers. The total citation of the articles published by the university staff, during the said period, also runs into several hundreds, per Google Scholar.SIMATS has also participated in the recent cycle of ranking assessment conducted by the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) and secured 55th place among the universities.

Saveetha University has also achieved three Guinness World Records in recent times for conducting dental health check for 101,309 persons in a single day on 27th November 2014, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training for 28,015 people in 24 hours on 7th April 2016, and for conducting CPR Relay involving 2619 people on 7th April 2016 respectively.

As education has now become globally a complex phenomenon and the requirements and standards are largely universal in nature, Saveetha has been constantly engaging the perceptions and views of the global educators in its academic pursuits. There is no one area where it did not have international eminence; right from curriculum through teaching and learning, research and inventions, to accreditation and assessment, the stage has been set and standards and infrastructure have been established all across the academic supply chain to meet the global demand. The University has signed strategic MOUs on academic excellence and educational development with leading global institutions across the world including USA, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Far East, Asia and Australia. Programme specific collaborations and research partnerships established by the Schools and Departments have enriched the academic outcomes, making Saveetha truly a global academic focal point for intellectual discourse.
